Paranormals Tour: JL Bryan Interview + Kindle Fire GIVEAWAY

Today I have JL Bryan here to answer some Halloween Type questions as part of the Kismet BT Tour.

There is also a Kindle Fire giveaway for this tour, so be sure to stay til the end to find out how to win!!!

About JL Bryan - website, Facebook, Twitter, Goodreads
J.L. Bryan studied English literature at the University of Georgia and at Oxford, with a focus on English Renaissance and Romantic literature. He also studied screenwriting at UCLA. He lives in Atlanta with his wife Christina, dogs Violet and Tiger Lily, and cats Shadow and Sue.

Do you have big plans for Halloween?  Party, trick-or-treat, haunted house?

With a four-month-old in the house, we don’t do a lot of partying right now!  I do like to visit haunted houses, so maybe I’ll work something in.

Costume or no costume? (if yes, do you know what yet?)

None for me this year, but we’ll dress up the baby.  Right now, I’m thinking “Ewok.”

You must be under 36 then to find Ewok’s cute ;)

What was your favorite costume as a kid?

Grover.  The mask was pretty good, but I never could figure out why Grover would be wearing a plastic shirt depicting Grover.  He never wore that on Sesame Street.

What is your favorite Halloween Candy?

Cadbury Dead Heads.  Though the Screme Eggs are looking like a serious competitor!

Favorite spooky/scary book?

I have to give Pet Sematary credit for being the scariest book I ever read.

Favorite spooky/horror movie?

Night of the Living Dead (the original!)

Favorite horror monster?

I’ve always liked Freddy Krueger.  Those were the first horror movies I enjoyed as a kid.

1,2, Freddy’s coming for you.....
If there's something strange in your neighborhood, who you gonna call?

Probably a photographer.  I’d want pictures of anything supernatural! Unless the ‘something strange’ is just my weird neighbor wandering outside in his underwear again, in which case I would just tiptoe back inside and quietly close the door.

Even if it was your neighbor, you could still get the photographer.  Blackmail ;)

No, no, some pictures shouldn’t be taken.

GIVEAWAY:

Jeff is offering two EPIC give-aways for his tour!
The first give-away is a daily Trick-or-Treat give-away that will run throughout the tour.  Each day, one of our cute/creepy trick-or-treaters will show up offering a trick or a treat!  See which one you got below!

The second give-away is a Kindle Fire, skinned in the winner’s choice of Paranormals artwork and loaded with an AMAZING indie library!  Simply fill out the form below (just once during the course of the tour) and you’re entered to win the latest and greatest from the biggest name in eReaders:  an Amazon Kindle Fire!  Open US/Canada.  See full contest rules here.

A not so mean trick!  Comment on this interview and you automatically get 3 extra entries on the kindle fire giveaway!!!!

38 Angelic Thoughts:

  1. Ha ha ha - Baby Ewok! Classic!

I think getting a photographer is good for two reasons: (1) photographic evidence and (2) another witness!

    Thanks for the contest! :D

  2. Right there with you on the original Night of the Living Dead. My dad convinced my siblings and I that it was a real footage from when he was a kid. We were all quite young...probably a little too young to have been allowed to watch it, but people say that Loony Toons are too violent for little ones now, so who knows... :)

  7. Hilarious as always Mr. Bryan. I loved Ewoks as a kid too. Pet Sematary was a great novel, but I watched the movie first and was of course terrified. That little kid was creepy!

  11. Great interview! I love Stephen King, but the scariest book I've ever read: The Amityville Horror. Finished it in a quiet hose, alone, at about 3 am. I was completely spooked!

I entered for the Kindle Fire as Holly Storm. Thanks!

  14. I tried to convince my husband to go with a Star Wars theme, and dress the baby as an Ewok. I think i offended him when I told him he would make a great Chewbacca.

  15. Some pictures should definitely not be taken. I have seen a couple things by accident though a neighbors window that I really wish I could take back. Ahh the joys of apartment living.

  18. An Ewok is an adorable idea for a baby's costume! If he's anything like my son, he will soon love all things Star Wars. Halloween is such a big deal in my house with my son's birthday being the day before.
Freddy is my favorite too. I love a monster with personality! The silent monsters, Jason, Freddy, etc just aren't the same.

  21. Great post! I bet your son will be the cutest Ewok! Be sure and take lots of pics...you should post at least one! I know I'd like to see it. But then I have 4 children and 9 grandchildren...so, kids are kinda my thing. I once thought that when I retired, I'd become 'The Story Lady' and volunteer to read at the local grade schools. I'm retired...but...some dreams don't materialize.

  22. This is one series I've been seeing EVERYWHERE (even other then the tour) and I know next year I'll have to find a way to fit them in.
I'm kind of dreading Halloween this year. I'm just not feeling it. Plus my baby is a scaredy cat so will probably be crying and running away from everyone. Trick or Treating should be very interesting...
