I just recently finished TOUCH and it was AMAZING!!!! I will be putting my review up later this week, but the short of it is I LOVED IT!!!!
For now, enjoy Jus Accaro's favorite reads as a teen.
Growing up, if I wasn’t in the kitchen with my grandparents, I had my nose in a book. I couldn’t count the number of books I consumed between the ages of thirteen and seventeen. There were so many I loved, but a few really stuck with me.
1. Tex – S.E. Hinton. I read this when I was thirteen. It was one of the first books I can remember to really leave an impression on me. Someone had left it behind at my doctor’s office—a place I pretty much
lived at. It was old and falling apart and probably would have just been tossed if I hadn’t been there to rescue it. The doc, knowing I was book obsessed, gave it to me and a few chapters in, I was hooked.
2. The Oustsiders – S.E. Hinton. After I read Tex, I became obsessed with Hinton. I think I’ve reread The Outsiders like fifty times since I was a kid. Ponyboy and Johnny were my first book crushes.
3. The Heavenly Horse from the Outermost West – Mary Stanton. My cousin actually turned me on to this book. I saw the book on his shelf and fell in love with the cover. Of course, as most little girls, I was fascinated by horses, so a story about them? I was so there. This book is a classic example of good VS bad and has an amazing cast of characters that stick with you long after the story is over.
4. Watchers – Dean Koontz. Watchers was the first book my mom got mad at me for reading. I think I’d just turned thirteen and she actually took it away and hid it, saying I was too young to be reading scary stuff like that. Well, that didn’t work for me cause I was like three chapters from the end. I feel bad about this now (and hopefully he’s not reading this) but I snuck into my cousins room and stole his copy so I could finish!
5. Wolfwalker – Tara K Harper. I’ve always been a sucker for wolves. They’re my fave animal. This book—along with the rest of the series—is one I reread countless times through my teenage years. I was so fascinated by the relationships in the book. The bond Dion shared with Hishn—and her growing relationship with Aranur. They were my first fave couple. Plus, I so wanted a Hishn of my own…
Your turn. Tell me what your 5 fave books were growing up?
Thanks so much for stopping by today Jus!!!
Except there’s something off with Kale. He wears her shoes in the shower, is overly fascinated with things like DVDs and vases, and acts like she’ll turn to dust if he touches her. It’s not until Dez’s father shows up, wielding a gun and knowing more about Kale than he should, that Dez realizes there’s more to this boy—and her father’s “law firm”—than she realized.
Kale has been a prisoner of Denazen Corporation—an organization devoted to collecting “special” kids known as Sixes and using them as weapons—his entire life. And, oh yeah, his touch? It kills. Dez and Kale team up with a group of rogue Sixes hellbent on taking down
Denazen before they’re caught and her father discovers the biggest secret of all. A secret Dez has spent her life keeping safe.
A secret Kale will kill to protect.

Nice! I didn't really read much when I was growing up. I read but there were none that stuck to me. Touch sounds super interesting, I can't wait to see your review! :)

The ones I can think of immediately are:
ReplyDeleteThe Obnoxious Jerks- Stephen Manes
The Secret Circle Trilogy - L.J. Smith
Anything by Christopher Pike
Camp Girl Meets Boy- Caroline B. Cooney
Queen of This Realm - Jean Plaidy
Those are the ones I can remember reading again and again. :)
Touch sounds awesome! I will have to check it out!
I think S.E. Hinton had a profound affect on many many teens, myself included. LOVED all of those books. Not much YA to choose from in those days so S.E. Hinton got lots of rereads from me as well.
ReplyDeleteI've seen a few RAVE reviews for Touch!
I am getting excited to read Touch!!! Glad you loved it!
