April Page Count Contest Sign-Up

Page Count Contest

I don't know about you guys but have been needing some motivation to get some reading done.

Years back I used to do a page count contest both on paperback swap at one point and on shelfari.  They were both run a little differently, but they were really fun and they really helped to motivate me to get through my books!!

So I thought I would do something similar here on my blog if any of you were interested in playing along!
And oh yeah!! There will be some awesome giveaways included!
If it goes well I may continue to do it in future months :)

Here's how it will work-
  • Each week this month I will post a google doc where you submit each book you read as you finish it, including your name, email, book title, author, page count, and a brief sentence telling me whether or not you recommend the book.
  • At the end of each week I will post a Top 10 or Top 20 for THAT week (depending on how many people sign up) with the new google doc.
  • At the end of the month I will post the Top 10 or Top 20 OVERALL.
THE GIVEAWAYS-
  • 3 Winners will get either a $15 dollar Amazon GC, or a $15 book of your choice from book depository
  • The OVERALL top page count reader will receive one prize
  • One RANDOM winner from the OVERALL Top 20 readers will win one prize
  • One RANDOM winner from ALL 4 WEEKS lists of Top 20 readers will win one prize (that means you only have to be on the list for one week to be entered in the giveaway!)
The Nuts and Bolts
  • I know that some books have larger font and less words on pages, but there's nothing to be done about that.  It all just kinda works out in the end.  Just read what you normally read.
  • There is nothing I can do to PROVE that people are reading what they say they are reading.  We are working on the honor system here people.
  • What books count? Any adult, or YA book - fiction or non-fiction.  NO children's books, NO picture books.
  • Must be 13 or older to enter
  • Must be able to receive books from book depository or amazon GCs to enter giveaway
Ready to sign-up???

Then just enter the linky below with either your blog or twitter or goodreads, somewhere you post about where you read!

And please fill free to spread the word and grab the button!  The more people we have to sign up the more fun it is and the more motivation to read!!!

  4. I'm so glad your doing this Angela! I was a reading machine durring January! But I really slacked off in Febuary and March. I'm hoping to pick up the pace and get back in the game. I hate logging in to goodreads and seeing myself slip further and further behind in my yearly reading goal. =/ Hopefully this will be just the incentive I need to catch up! :)

  6. This sounds EPIC! I recently did this with Bianca on my own blog while she was on spring break. I think the challenge will certainly get me to get into a reading groove again because I'm having issues with everything I've been reading lately.

Also I'm super sorry that I haven't read Taken at Dusk yet but I'm trying to read it this week but not being into reading lately has been slowing me down. So sorry about that.

  10. YAAAY!! I'm nine books behind on my Goodread's challenge and this will motivate me to get nine books ahead! Love this!

Just a questions though, what do I do if 90% of my reading is done on my Kindle, as in e-books?

    1. I'd say you just look up the number of pages of the paperback version on Goodreads or Amazon (: At least, that's what I do
