What is a Readathon?
A Readathon is where you set a goal for yourself to read more books that is beyond your average number of books you read. There is no minimum, it's all up to you! Push yourself to get some of those books read that have been sitting on your shelves for awhile! You can read any type of book you choose!
What you do:
To participate in the Once Upon a Readathon you must ENTER INTO THE LINKY! The linky is the same on all of our blogs so you only need to enter once! Then, from 12:01 am on July 9th to 11:59 pm on July 11th you read, read, and read some more! Make sure you do at least one update post (if you don't have a blog you may do this on facebook and/or twitter) and participate in at least one challenge. Don't forget to add the button to your sidebar!!

What you get:
To have fun reading, network with other readers and some awesome prizes like.....
Lori, Candace, and myself are hosting a giveaway for a 60$ AMAZON GIFTCARD OR 60$ to Book depository for International winner.
This will go a random participant when the Readathon is finished.
There will also be giveaways held by the mini-challenge hosts and maybe some other giveaways through-out the read-a-thon.
You are only eligible if you do at least one update post and participate in at least one challenge. We will check!

This sounds fun and it's a time of year that I'm free! I need to check my volunteer schedule for the DNC that I signed up for yesterday. I hope to be on board!
ReplyDeleteOf course I'm participating! :D Can't wait! ^^

JULY? JULY? You are officially amazing. I was just telling someone I needed a read-a-thon in July so I can start cranking reviews out again. Count me in! I'll just mark this to sign up later. :]
ReplyDeleteSo glad I could make you happy Ash! ;) It's every July!! :D
DeleteThis will be my first read-a-thon! I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! If you need a giveaway stop let me know! =D
ReplyDeletelove ya!
I really look forward to this read-a-thon! Thanks for hosting!
ReplyDeleteI'm so looking forward to taking part in this read-a-thon! It'll give me the chance to tick some books off of my to-read list. :)

I signed up a while ago thinking this was taking place during my winter break, only to find out that it is in the first week of my 2nd semester! I'm still going to make it work. Cos I want to. I'll just read to the kids in Paediatric ward!
ReplyDeleteHi 'Reading Angel' and other book fans!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I'm doing another read-a-thon. I have a fair amount of flower-planting to finish for new landscaping ideas... and we are the season-sensitive Canadian prairies!
If challenges have large windows that don't stop reading progress daily (logging into a bunch in one sitting works better); this seems to be non-demanding. A light, flexible read-a-thon that can combine others is just perfect!
Best of all: thank you for a tremendously generous, non-genre or year-specific gift! $60.00!!? My eye is definitely on your prize!!!! http://cmriedel.wordpress.com/2012/02/06/my-anniversary-here/
Since you would only have to participate in one challenge on one of the days then you would only need to log in once! And normally they only take about 5 minutes! We don't want them to pull you away from your reading either (since that's the whole point!!) and that's also why we don't ask for you to have to participate in them all! Participation in the rest of the challenges is purely up to you :D
DeleteI typically log in at night before I go to bed, do a challenge an a reading update :D That way it doesn't cut into my reading much at all!
I'm glad that you like the giveaway! I know we have readers from across genres so we thought it would work great!
Now I really like you. Few event hostesses answer even questions. You're sweet! Book Depository is great for countries without a local Amazon (to use $60.00 to the penny or pay a difference). I need to warn all challenge hosts about something I found out. It's important.
ReplyDeleteAsk before sending: if a winner is Canadian, please obtain the gift certificate from Amazon.CA, not ".com"! Certificates don't work between the two. If stuck with the US site, it's $9.00 just to mail 1 book + customs fees! $12.00 shipping, used! It costs the gift-giver nothing more to use Amazon.ca instead. Our currencies are identical.
The difference for us? Free shipping at $25, or 1c used books mailed at $6.49. My dear reading peers, I know how to get the most out of these wonderful gifts! :) Please warn all hosts.
Oh yeah, I have a few friends in CA so I had been clued in to this before. Thanks for the heads up! :D
DeleteI'm relieved. I thought read-a-thon hosts might have thought my info was off-topic and removed it. Even better to hear you know about this already and maybe others do too. Okay to remove the duplicate. Hope the storms are done. ~Carolyn~
DeleteHm, didn't go through: found out important info everyone. Gift certificates from .com don't work at Amazon Canada. A heads up that prizes for Canadian winners need to come from Amazon.ca. :) A huge fee-saving difference. Thanks ~ good luck everyone!
ReplyDeleteSorry for the delay in the previous comment! I have moderation on posts older than 2 weeks to cut down on spam and my power has been out due to the recent storms so I couldn't get on to approve it :D
Deletei think that is the same for the uk too x
DeleteI have a huge tbr for this month so I may pull from them for the readathon. I think I may do a vid to show what I am reading for it but I need to get somethings read for my daughters trip because she leaves Wed.
