Synopsis:
Being connected to Daemon Black sucks…
Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarre connection. I’ve sworn him off even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But against all common sense, I’m falling for him. Hard.
Our relationship issues aren’t out biggest problem…
The Department of Defense is here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we’re linked, I’m a goner. So is he. And when a new boy shows up a school with a secret of his own, things get complicated fast. I need to choose between my own instincts and Daemon’s.
But then everything changes…
I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. Daemon’s never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?
No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies.
My Thoughts:
I think my love for all things Jennifer Armentrout is well known at this point. If not then I'm not sure where you have been. Onyx did not disappoint EITHER time I read it! That's right, I've already read it twice!! I devoured it again yesterday in one day. It's just that good! I had to re-live every pen poke, every "hey kitten", every sexy sexy Daemon moment all over again and it was even better the second time around. (I'm not sure how that's possible, but it was.)
For anyone who read Obsidian and wasn't a fan of the more jerky side of Daemon, you will all be so pleased when you read Onyx. The Daemon in Onyx, while still snarky, is sweet, romantic, protective, and completely drool-worthy. (Although I have found him drool-worthy since he first showed up at the door with his shirt off...but, you know ...) Katy, too, has grown. She is no longer timid in any way. Katy is MAD about the way Daemon treated her in the last book, and a few gifts and sexy looks aren't going to make up for that. Boy's going to have to work harder than that to prove his worth to her. I love how during all the tense suspenseful moments, suddenly Daemon or Katy will suddenly throw this funny barb at you that will have you rolling with laughter.
Dee is not in Onyx as much as she was Obsidian, and while that fit the book, I missed her something crazy. She is one of my favorite characters in the Lux series, so I really enjoyed what I did get of her, and really hope for more of her in Opal. There are a lot of new players in Onyx, and some old players we thought were possibly out of the game for good, and it all escalates to one shocking revelation to who is really betraying them all. I was on the edge of my seat praying that they all made it out alive.
Onyx is one of those book that you just have to stop and hug every so often! What?? I'm the only one that does that? I don't think so!! There were so many heart-wrenching or touching moments that I would literally just close it and squeeze the book tight! If I haven't convinced you to pick up a Jennifer Armentrout book yet then I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, for the love of hot aliens everywhere, read this series!!

DEE CHARACTER INTERVIEW
Dee: "Thanks for having me, fellow West Virginian!"
RA: So, I know you are forever loyal to your family, but lets be honest, having Daemon as a brother has GOT to be frustrating sometimes ;) What is the most annoying thing Daemon does?
Dee: She giggles. "Daemon can be... difficult from time to time. The most annoying thing, besides seemingly being incapable of wearing a shirt, is the his over protectiveness. I get why he's that way, but it can be tramua inducing when trying to make friends."
RA: Hmm...I don't think I would find Daemon shirtless frustrating AT ALL...
We had that huge storm in WV a few weeks ago that killed all of our power for days. What fun thing did you do to stay sane during the blackout?
RA: Sigh...why couldn't you have come over here! *grumbles*Katy gets all the luck*grumbles*
Dee: "We don't really need power." Dee grins. "I just went into my true form. Katy was able to read her books that way. See. I'm very useful during a blackout."
RA: Sigh...why couldn't you have come over here! *grumbles*Katy gets all the luck*grumbles*
I know a lot of my friends tried to date my older brother, is it weird that your best friend is kinda-sorta starting something with your brother?
RA: What the best and worst part of living among humans?
Now for some quickies-
Dee grins. "Not really, because I know it wasn't like she was using me to get close to Daemon. Some of the other girls tried that with no such luck. And honestly, she's really good for Daemon."
RA: What the best and worst part of living among humans?
Dee: "The best part is that there are just so many of them." She pauses. "And the worst part is that there are so many of them."
Now for some quickies-
Favorite band? The Maine
Favorite Food? All food!
Celebrity Crush? Call me, Robert Pattinson. I'd treat you right.
Zombies or Unicorns? Unicorns. Because they sparkle. See a trend, do you?
Favorite sport? LOL!
Leather or Lace? Lace.

ReplyDeleteSigh, I don't know what to do about this book. You know I had some issues with the first book and I really hoped for more out of the characters. I just read a review that said the characters didn't really grow and now your review said that they do grow and change for the better! I'm so confused on what I'm going to do with this book. I might give it a try down the road... maybe if my library gets it.
